Problem with Updates

Hello everyone, I just bought a Toshiba laptop, which came preinstalled with Windows 7, so everythings all right, and then the computer automatically updates, so I restart the computer, and it hangs at the "Windows is configuring" screen.

I know it's the updates that are the problem, because I tested it (even wiping the whole system to the out-of-the-box state), and tried to let it install the updates (only 660kb or so), and it flips out again on the Configure screen, I don't see a percentage, or anything.

Please help!

In your case, when booting, press F8 to get the Windows Boot Manager and choose "Last Known Good Configuration" to see if that helps.

Are these WIndows Updates or for useless Toshiba utilities?

Either way, install them individually if possible to isolate the problem update, then open a support case with WUD or Toshiba to get problem update installed. You can System Restore to before any Windows Update.

Sooner or later, most tech enthusiasts find a clean-copy of their Win7 version to clean reinstall without the factory bloatware, using Product Key on COA sticker.

Until then, make your Recovery Disk set, uncheck everything in msconfig>Startup except AV and gadgets to improve performance, Use the Win7 built-in wireless utility which is much better than Toshiba's, uninstall bloatware programs you don't want using REvo in Advanced mode, clean and order the HD perfectly using state-of-the-art CCleaner and Auslogics Disk and REgistry defraggers monthly.

Be sure to check optional Windows Updates as those are where the valuable goodies like newer drivers come in.

Tried "Last Know Good Configuration", didn't work, but thanks for trying.

These are Windows updates, and I know about System Restore, I just went and stopped the Updater from Updating automatically, and I'll be sure to check for optional updates.

Thanks, you two!

Didn't mean to put down Toshiba which makes fine laptops, just factory bloatware in general.

No new Windows updates shown when 'search for updates' - Problem?
Hi, it seems like I get no more updates offered when I search for updates. My latest important updates are from 05.10.13. Since then I only get the same 42 optional updates shown. Shouldn't there be a few new ones (important and optional ones) since one month? Yesterday I read about the new IE11,...
