    Update not required.

I have Win 7 set to download important updates but to ask me to install. Currently it alerts me (task bar icon) that new updates are available. When I select to install the one update listed it comes up with a window that says two things:
    The update(s) were successfully installed.
    Not needed: 1 update

The icon is still telling me the update is available but it seems either unnecessary or already installed.

How can I make the icon ignore this update? By the way it is Office Live add-in 1.5 and 2.7MB.

If you want to hide the update - Go into the list where you tick the updates you (Obviously the live essential are in the optional screen), right click the update you want hiding and then click hide update. Make sure it not ticked before you click hide.

Easy, open Update and go to the update then right mouse click on it and you will see the option to hide update, just be sure to uncheck it first. Hidden updates will not alert you to being available and if the need arose that you have to load it you simply unhide it.
