    Reporting an incorrect update


    How do I tell MS that their optional update is wrong? My home made Windows 7 Home Premium machine upgraded from XP PRO was running great until I installed an optional upgrade - for ATI HD 2600 (installed on my PC) as listed on the Windows update site. Restarting the PC failed. A DOS screen indicted an addition to the Autoexec.bat that was applicable ONLY to the HD 2400 series. System Restore failed. Fortunately I had an Acronis Home image that returned my machine to a working shape.

    No need to tell anyone anything. Set update to notify and you will install. When you get that wrong update, right click and set to hide. I have mine set to notify. I do not want someone else to decide what goes into my computer.

MSE update reporting
in System Security

I captured the first picture a few minutes before MSE was set to update automatically (9 a.m. every day). It's reporting it's up to date. I captured the second picture after MSE updated. Now it is up to date. Why does it report it's up to date when it isn't? Thanks.
