Windows 7: DirectX install fails... something about a cabinet file.

DirectX install fails... something about a cabinet file.

I've been trying to install Company of Heroes on my new laptop. And it prompts me for a DirectX update.

At first I thought it was the game itself crashing, but it's the DirectX update itself that's not getting installed properly on my computer. As I've tried just using the DirectX webupdate.

This is the message that I get when it tries to install:

"A cabinet file necessary o installation cannot be trusted. Please verify the Cryptographic Services are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is valid."

Anybody else experiencing this problem?

I'm using Windows 7 64bit Home.

The web installer has a bad habit of doing that sort of thing for a lot of people. Try the redistributable instead,

Download details: DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)

After extracting run the dxsetup.exe (the only exe in the folder), that should get it to install (and you can delete the extracted folder after if you wish).

Two issues: Upgrade install of W7x86 fails and W7x64 fails to clean install
Clean installing W7 x86 is no problem. But 1) upgrading Vista x86 to W7 x86 fails and automatically rolls back to Vista, and 2) attempt to clean install W7 x64 results in BSOD when rebooting to finalize the process. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
