Essential 11 Update

I've updated to Win Essentials 11. The update went well; however, when I run Photo Gallery I get an error code 0X8007000b

Win 7, 64bit
IE 9 beta

Essential 2009 use to work well. I've uninstalled Essentials 11, reinstalled 2009 and it works fine. Uninstalled 2009, reinstalled 2011 and Photo Gallery still gives me the same error.

I only installed Live Mail and Photo Gallery & Movie Maker. Mail & Movie Maker seem to work fine.

Anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

Thanks Lomai,

Evidently this is a fix for VISTA, hot fix button dosn't work for Win 7. I tried the manual instructions, installed Essential 11 again but got the same error msg when I tried to run Photo Gallery

Are you able to download and install windows updates normally?
Do you have the most recent windows updates installed?

Yes, I've no problems with Windows Update and I'm current.

Found this also on the Live Essentials download site (release notes):

Windows Live programs may crash on some ATI/AMD video cards if you’re also using Internet Explorer 9 Technical Preview or Windows 7 SP1 Beta

Due to an underlying issue with some ATI/AMD video card drivers, installing Internet Explorer 9 Technical Preview 3 or Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Beta can cause some Windows Live programs to crash or hang, particularly Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Mail.
If you installed Internet Explorer 9 Technical Preview, you’ll need to uninstall and reinstall an update:

In Windows Control Panel, under Programs, or Programs and Features, click Uninstall a program.
In the left pane, click View installed updates.
In the list of installed updates, select KB 2028560, and then click Uninstall.
Go to An update is available for Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2 which provides new functionality and performance improvements for the graphics platform and install the updated KB 2028560.

If you installed the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Beta, try updating your ATI/AMD video card driver by using one of the following links.

I did this a day or so ago.
- ATI Driver is up to date
- Uninstalled, and reinstalled KB2028560 64bit as directed

Tried it again tonight, still doesn't work, did a fresh download and install of Essential 11. Same 0X8007000b error when I run photo gallery

1.Make sure you don't have any hexadecimal folders on any partition (not only on drive C) -hexadecimal folder -folder which name consist with hexadecimal digits.If you have such kind of folder then please remove them

2.Delete folder C:\Users\<your account>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery\Windows Photo Gallery

Note

Folder C:\Users\<your account>\AppData is hidden.To have visible it you have to in Control Panel>>Folder Options check "Show Hidden files and folders" or better way use any good 3p file manager e.g Total Commander.

BTW

Mentioned MS article is related for WU error not for issue with running Photo Galary -I doubt it is any issue with system transaction logs

Thanks Flavius,
I deleted all the hex folders I could find - I had a ton of them - mostly all created on the same date, June 26. I'm not sure if it's related, but I installed Office 2010 around that time.

I didn't have a Windows Photo Gallery folder in AppData/Roaming/Microsoft. I suspect I cleaned these out when I uninstalled Essentials using Revo Uninstaller.

I then reinstalled Essentials, ran Photo Gallery and still have the same problem.
