The manifests folder can be found in c:\windows\winsxs\manifests
The packages folder can be found in c:\windows\servicing\packages

Nothing in the TEMP folder should be in use other than possibly a few .SQM files.
Readiness Tool create Manifests and Packages in TEMP .If this tool find good copies in TEMP subfolders this will try to redirect to c:\windows\winsxs\manifests and c:\windows\servicing\packages

    EDIT

    here you go:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...8WS.10%29.aspx

    Steps to resolve this issue

    1.

Get the files required from other sources. The options available can be found in the “Options for obtaining files” section below.
    2.

Copy the files to %Windir%\Temp\CheckSUR directory of the corrupted computer following the subdirectory format as follows:
    1. All files of type *.mum and *.cat should be placed in the %windir%\Temp\CheckSUR\servicing packages directory

    2. All files of type *.manifest should be placed in the %windir%\Temp\CheckSUR\manifests\ directory

    For example:

    Copy Package_for_KB958690_sc_0~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.0.1.6.mum to %Windir%\Temp\CheckSUR \servicing\packages\

    Copy x86_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6002.18005_none_0b4ada54c46c45b0.manifestto %Windir%\Temp\CheckSUR \winsxs\manifests\

    ImportantImportant
Whenever you copy a .mum file, you must also copy the corresponding .cat file of the same name.

    3. Rerun the System Update Readiness tool.
    Besides I checked myself too.

    Firstly, no need for faces

Secondly, if there's issues with packages and manifests would running sfc /scannow from and elevated Command Prompt (type cmd then Run as Administrator) fix these?

SFC tools does not affect on WinSxS and Packages, otherwise make no sense to create Readiness Tool.

    @NecroPS3

Whatever happend with these missing folders just create them manually, copy to them missing file and run Readiness Tool

I hate this issue....I've created manual for this Troubleshooting with System Update readiness Tool

    may it help.

But of course you can replace corrupted files yourself, without running again Readiness Tools again but it will be more sophisticated:

1.Navigate to C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages and C:\windows\WinSxS\Manifests,takeownership of these folders and add your account to have full control

    2. Copy all files from FilesToReplace\packages to C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages and all files from FilesToReplace\Manifests to C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests

3.Remove your account from permissions to Packages folder
4.Restore ownership of Packages,Manifests folder back to "NT Service\TrustedInstaller"

    helpful links (please read them)

5.Next install updates from Microsoft Download center

Just out of curiosity, finally did you run Readiness Tool again or you had to replace all files manually?
