    Change the settings
    Windows Update Settings - Change

    Install one at a time

Keep the setting on manual for future updates to avoid bigger problems

Run TDSKiller if you susspect infection How to remove malware belonging to the family Rootkit.Win32.TDSS (aka Tidserv, TDSServ, Alureon)?

however not always this error relate to infection.Sometimes this error relate to issue with 3p security software, server proxy -details
You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates
Uninstall all 3p security software if nothing help.

    OK,
I only use manual update for any software, ever.
There is no 3rd party virus ware, use Security Essentials.
What will not update is MS's, Nov. MRT update. Other updates work, just not the MRT.??????????
I have gone into safe mode and run MB and MRT, did that before thread engaged.

Connection seems fine, was able to get SE update today, will not give me MRT update, same faliure code.

Whats TDSKiller gonna do for me that MalwareBytes, MRT, or SE is not, please?
Does it need to be run in "Safe Mode"?

    Nope.
Malicious Software Removal Tool was a mandatory update.
Since SE updated fine, me thinks its a MS update issue.
Was hoping for confirmation from others, saying they too had an issue with this update.

If this only issue with update for MRT then solution is easy.

MRT does not use any installer -it's like portable application

Download latest version of tool from there Download details: Microsoft® Windows® Malicious Software Removal Tool (KB890830) x64 ,rename downloaded *.EXE file to MRT.EXE,next go to C:\Windows\System32 and replace MRT.EXE,when you next time run Windows Update update for MRT should gone.
