    How do I do that?
Ok, so I tried disabling the router's firewall to check if that was the problem, but it isn't. This is hopeless.
Turn the Firewall back on now. You need the protection and it is not the cause. Could you please create a new account for me, and see whether that works or not, just as a test. Thanks!

P.S. These network releated ones are a mighty pain to fix, as you can see.
Yeah I turned it back on after I disabled it, and what do you mean by creating a new account? On Windows?

I had a similar problem a couple of days ago although I think the error code was 8024402F. I tried all the solutions recommended on the Microsoft Support site but kept getting the same error.

Seems it was just a temporary internet connection problem because when I switched on the next morning the updates installed without any problems.

So it's just my ISP or my connection?

I don't know Starblind, an intermittent internet connection turned out to be the cause of the problem I had downloading Windows 7 x64 updates a few days ago but if you still can't download the updates 2 days after reporting the problem then it must be something else on your machine.

Sorry but you'll just have to follow-up on the suggestions given by niemiro.

I'll just contact Microsoft. Thanks both of you for the help.
