Error codes 8000FFFF & 8007001

I've got Home premium and keep getting the above error codes within windows update.

Although the windows security definition updates via windows update say successful.

Any one shed any light on the 8000FFFF code I will be very gtreatful.

Hello!

Your two error codes are very general. Guessing the meaning of error codes is always an inexact art. However, your two codes could honestly mean anything under the sun.

Try the FIX IT by Jacee above, in aggressive mode as instructed. That is excellent advice. If that does not work, and you must re-test, then we come to what I guess YOUR meaning of the code to be:

Download and run this tool: Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2 When it has finished installing the update, it is done!

Navigate to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS, and copy CheckSUR.log to your Desktop, and then upload it.

These are *very* generic errors. When are you seeing these errors, specifically? In general, TrustedInstaller.exe is throwing these errors because the component store is corrupted as per KB 946414. Note that this, in general, requires a rebuild or repair/restore to previous working point to resolve, because a corrupt component store is indicative of a corrupt side-by-side cache as well. You can try to remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\PendingXmlIdentifier, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\NextQueueEntryIndex, and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving from the registry and deleting any pending.xml file from c:\windows\winsxs\pending.xml (note that this will be owned by system, so you'd need to change perms before you would be able to delete it), then import IE's proxy settings into WinHTTP (netsh winhttp import proxy ie) and then rebooting to see if things work after a reboot.
