Having an issue with a Windows update

Last night my system auto installed 10 updates for Windows 7 now every time I turn off my pc it says I have one update to install. i restarted my pc about 5 times since then and it is still telling me I have an update. Please help me stop this madness.

I just checked the update history and it sucessfully installed 9 of the updates. The only update that was not sucessfully installed and that it keeps trying to install is titled:
Update for Windows 7 for X64-based systems (KB2443685) 578 kb

The updates that were sucessful had the same name but different numbers.
Should I just cancel this update?

Thanks!

The update has to be manually installed.

Hi Karl,

Some updates require you to "Shut Down" the PC, not "Re-Start" it. Try a "Shut Down" and then power it back on to see if it does the trick for you.

If that doesn't work try this. Resets the updates so they will install properly.

Windows Update - Reset

Niemiro our update specialist isn't on line at the moment.

Try the above. If you get a Windows Update error message make note of it and post the error number and Niemiro can have a look when he does get on line.

Hopefully the reset will work for you.

Mike

I just checked MS.
It is the proper update for the Win7 64bit.

You can download it directly from on this page.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2443685

This link takes you straight to the download.
Download the Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2443685) package now. (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...d-4e83e883706e)

When that error code came up it had an option to explore the issue further and I clicked on it. Nothing really happened so I closed out but when I did the updater went away. I restarted and it didn't come back.
Do you think it matters if that one update was not installed?

I posted above you can get the download direct.

I would say yes you need it.
It has to do with the Daylight Savings Time and that can screw up the system clock and cause minor to major issues. Clock gets off and a lot of things get out of kilter including future downloads and updates.

Ok I installed it via that link. I had a scary restart (the os didn't come up as fast as usual) but it eventually did and when I went to Windows Update, I saw that it was installed. However, now I have another update waiting to be installed:
"Marvell inc,-Storage-Marvell RAID Console"

What the heck is that?

I do not update anything on my Asus board thru Windows except my Realtek LAN.

Go check with Asus and up date there if there actually is an update.

I don't like things messing with my Asus.

Those Marvells are your controller drivers which operate your hard drive.
I'll get the Asus link.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx

Enter the board info on the right or click the autodetect on the left.

Mike

That may sound paranoid but I prefer to make sure I have the exact version recommended by Asus thats all.
