    Windows Update Error

Hi All! I am new to the forums so I guess I would like to welcome myself as a newbie!
I just recently upgraded my windows xp home to windows 7 professional. So far it is running great and smoothly. My first problem is windows updates, this is a new installation and when I went to go to microsoft update It says I have about 50+ updates, this is natural of course. So I click install and it supposedly installs them, NOT. I end up with this error: "Code 80070718 Windows Update encountered and unknown error."
    Succeeded: 3 updates
    Failed: 44 updates.

I am not sure at all what is going on. I have installed that system update readiness tool but it didn't work. Any advice and help is GREATLY appreciated!

    Welcome
First regardless of what you read, set automatic update to notify
When notified install a few at a time.
    Never all at once.
A conflict will develope because they will restart the computer,
    Try that now
    Windows Update Settings - Change

If when you try it still does not work, Use system restore to go back to a point before you started the updates.

Ok I did that. Now I am only installing 3-4 at a time but I still get the same error.
and Now it is less, 1 succeeded, 2 failed.
I want all these updates (they are security updates) so I will just have to bear with it, but why is this happening? Any guesses? Anything else I can do to my computer?

    Hello!

Please navigate to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS and copy to your Desktop and then upload CheckSUR.log.

    Thanks!
