More than likely it is a TechNet key, but its hard to say whether its a TechNet key, or an MSDN key.. I have a TechNet key and its 066 ... Good luck with getting any help from ebay though..

is the layman really expected to look up on product id's before purchasing i didn't have a clue about all this until now. I saw the COA sealed as the MS website instructs you to look out for but still this didnt help me in accidentally purchasing a 'pirate' copy.

The best answer is ... if a deal looks too good to be true, it usually is.... Caveat Emptor..
£90 is still alot of money. COA sealed obviously means you can't buy a windows 7 product in confidence then.
The best solution is to purchase your OS from Microsoft or an authorized reseller, preferably a store where you can go to if a problem arises ...
