I'm trying to RMA it now. Waiting for a response from MSI. Don't want to RMA the PSU - It's a piece of junk. I would Rather buy a new one Probably the Corsair CMPSU-650HX .

Just in case anyone wants to know the answer to my original question. I just rebuilt my computer. I replaced the MB, added a new PSU, HSF-CM TX3, and video card. My SSD was already loaded with windows. Booted into windows and had to reactivate, went online and it activated automatically. No problem even with a new MB.

Profdlp, thanks I'm glad too. I was worried as it was my first build and I was winging it. I was also worried about the activation as the activation is tied to the MB. But, it is activated and running.

Thats because OEM windows is activated offline, it needs the right mix of certain elements to work. In your case, since the new mobo is also from MSI, the required bios flag was present.

Did you match the mobo?

The reason I ask is that this is the second report I've seen that factory OEM activated with new mobo.

If there wasn't a mobo match then this could mean changes have been made to OEM restrictions greater than leniency given during the previously-required calls to plead with an activation agent which Kari and others documented last year.

Did you SysPrep the HD or otherwise prepare it to start on new hardware? If not then you really hit the jackpot.

gregrocker, I did no sysprep. Windows 7 was alresady loaded on my SSD from the pervious build. I did rma the MB so I had the same type just a different one. On first boot I set everything to default in bios, changed to AHCI, changed boot order and display screen (to see POST), exited and booted directly into windows. I noticed that it did detect new hardware because windows said I had 3 days to activate(it was already activated from previous build). I went online and it automatically activated - much to my surprise. That's all that I did - and I'm very happy!
