Activation issue, I guess

I purchased this computer in Sept. of this year. I have had continuous problems with it. It now is apparent that I need to replace the Motherboard and PSU. I know the windows activation is tied to the MB. Is there a way around having to buy a new OS? I am running Windows 7 Pro X64.

Windows will activate on a different motherboard....unless....its a oem version...in that case you will have to call Microsoft and beg/tell sad tales/.....then they might....maybe give you another code.....

In that case have you tried to match the motherboard....

I can understand that, but any brand can have a dud....MSI is generally a good company....

You don't need the same motherboard to have Genuine copy of your Windows 7, little does ANYONE know that the sticker on your computer's case with a product key for your edition of Windows 7 is not the same key being used for your OEM license. All computer manufacturing companies are given a mass-production product key to use for the OEM license, the key provided on your case is there incase you need to replace the mobo (or any other hardware in that matter) or do a full system restore.

My experience with Microsoft is that they are very lenient when it comes to changing hardware. Worst I've ever had to do is the ol' robocall thing. Can't guarantee it, though.

I sure hope you guys are right. It is bad enough to have to replace the MB and PSU on a new computer - but to have to buy another OS is adding insult to injury.
