Only starts in safe mode with no services running....

I'm having an issue that when it trys to reboot and install the update it fails and starts it automatically in safe mode. I tried to uninstall the update but nothing is running, and it won't allow me to start windows update. I attempted to do a system restore but the only restore I had available was for 2 days before the install, and it didn't have any effect. I heard it was symantec causing the issue, but again I am unable to uninstall it because my windows install is not running properly. All my drivers are up to date. Does anyone have any solutions for me? I have been trying to figure this out since I got the update Wednesday. I am running 64 Bit on a HP G72.

Reboot and tap F8 key to see if you have Repair My Computer console on Advanced Boot Tools. If not, boot into DVD Repair Console or download and burn a Repair CD: System Repair Disc - Create

Once booted into the Repair console accept any offered Repair. If it fails boot back in again, click through to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair repeatedly. It should offer to System Restore. If it doesn't and Repair cannot start Win7, then boot back in to System Restore to before the Update.
