    Lost Updates with System Restore?

Hi- I had a problem that developed recently and was characterized by browsers (IE, Firefox and Opera) opening very slowly. I tried to fix it by scanning for and removing malware, which did nothing. I finally resolved the problem by using System Restore, back to Jan 11, 2011. My question is: in using System Restore have I lost the Critical Updates to Win7? If so, might one of them have caused the problem? When I looked at Windows Update to see if it would show them as missing after the restore none of those updates appeared. Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks -Howard

Yes, when you restore you also roll back the updates. What I would suggest is systematically adding any updates (one at a time) to see which one seems to be causing the issue (if it's even the updates)

    Incrementally add prior updates? How?

I also had to perform a System Restore, but the most recent restore point was a Critical Update. After the Restore, Windows Update showed that I didn't need any updates. I couldn't see a Critical Update on the list, either.

How do I find out which Updates are missing? And, how do I add them back incrementally? TIA.

Hi Takerna and welcome to the Forum. "Critical Update" does not refer to any particular update but just a class of updates - usually security updates. If you have Automatic Windows Update turned on and it says there are no Critical Updates available, you should be up to date. Nothing to worry about I think.
    Cheers
