    Really Confused now with SP1

    Hiya All,
As the title states I'm really confused (Not to hard for me by the way)
Ok in another thread Windows 7 SP1 beta uninstall Help
I asked did any 1 know how to uninstall SP1 RC/beta.
Ok sometime yesterday an update KB:976902 was downloaded and installed to my PC, I checked out the description of said D/L and this is what it says:-

    Update information

Updates to the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 installation software are included in this update. The installation software is the component that handles the installation and the removal of software updates, language packs, optional Windows features, and service packs. This update is necessary to successfully install and to remove any service packs to all versions of Windows 7 and on Windows Server 2008 R2.
So am I correct in thinking that this update will remove the SP1 RC I have my PC and that I'll not have to do a clean install of Win 7 to remove the RC update?????
    Any idea's any 1?

    Hi NON,
Nope not work for me as I've carried out Housekeeping on my PC and hence have removed the uninstall files that were placed in a temp folder.

Then the only way to remove it is a clean install
    Clean Install Windows 7

The update you installed is unrelated to the Service Pack outside of letting it be installed in the first place. You do not have to remove it. The release version of SP will just install it again. So leave it.

    hi all,
I though after reading about it that it would get rid of SP1 RC instead of having to do a clean install. I even tried to do a repair install with no luck and as I've said I was hopimg MS would come up with something but not looking like it.

I feel your pain ...bud ....
Next time around ...make a Wds recovery image ...tuck it somewhere ...
So that you don't have to go through this again ...
    Good luck ..
