You've got more patience than I do. I'd say to hell with it, uninstall HD video (or maybe not) and dive in using the 903.2 mb EXE download and avoid Windows Update. Then go back to HD video after SP 1 was going well.

Well I did disable (not uninstall) the Intel HD Graphics driver and it DID make my display wacky. Basically it made it crappy resolution and all my icons were huge. While disabled I did try WU and still nothing. Would just disabling it have the same affect as uninstalling it for updating? I just don't want to fully uninstall unless I have to as a last resort.

Ok. I got my problem sorted out.
I uninstalled my ATI drivers. I took out my Graphics Card. (can't disable graphic cards in setup on this PC for some odd reason)
I then rebooted my PC and got it to read my Intel Drivers.
I uninstalled my old Intel Drivers in Programs. Then installed the new drivers
from the Intel website. Rebooted. My PC immediately updated SP1. =)

@Tech - I hope you get it figured out.

You can easily change resolution if you need to via right clicking the desktop.

Icons can be similarly resized if needed.

You wouldn't need to unless the screen is so ridiculous that you can't read or operate.

I don't know for a fact if disabling/uninstalling would have identical effects. I would guess they would.

The Intel drivers that indychic used are alway a possibility.

I'd try the 903 mb EXE file rather than Windows Update, but it is your call.

How did you Install the New Driver? Did it install automatically when you hit run or do you have to point it to the download?

Tech - My problem was different because my PC was not defaulting to my Intel Graphic Accelerator (Intel Drivers) ... therefore I uninstalled and physically removed my ATI Graphics Card from my PC. THis got my PC to default to my INTEL DRIVER that came on my PC.

1. I went here and download this. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...=3231&lang=eng to the desktop.

2. I went to Programs and uninstalled Intel Graphic Accelerator HD or whateverif you have this. This will make your screen a bit bonky (larger).

3. I then rebooted. I proceeded to install my new download in step 1.
I rebooted again. I immediately went to windows update and there it was SP1

* These are my steps for my PC. It seems like you just need to get that new driver from Intel. Once you have this you will be good to go.

Do you have a Intel Graphics Accelerator HD installed in your control panel/ Programs?

Thanks Indychic!

I was wondering on the download from the Intel site did you:

1. Hit RUN and it installed automatically

OR

2.. Saved the download to your computer then "pointed" it where to install? and if so WHERE did you point the file to?

Attached is pics of my control panel and device manager with the Intel Driver Properties.

Thanks everyone for being so patient I just don't want to do more harm than good

Here are instructions for the Intel driver I found at Intel a couple of days ago. This assumes you downloaded the driver.

• Click Start » Computer » Properties » Device Manager.
• Click Continue when asked for permission to continue.
• Double-click Display adapters.
• Right-click the Intel® graphics controller and click Update driver software.
• Click Browse my computer for driver software.
• Click Browse... and navigate to the folder where you placed the extracted driver files.
Select the Graphics folder, and then click OK.
Click Next to continue.
Once the driver installation is complete, you will see a message that says "Windows has successfully updated your driver software". Click Close to complete the installation wizard and reboot your system when prompted.

Sorry for my late response - I am watching Indiana/Purdue BBall game.

FIRST!

Go to start > Control Panel > Programs > Program and Features.
And see if you have a program (intel) installed there
(I had the Intel Accelerator HD prior) It's a program file so it will look similiar
to my attachement .. it will say INTEL something not necessarily what my attachement says.
I need to know if you have this program.

______________
Also, from INTEL's website I downloaded the file to desktop. I did not directly run the file as I was downloading. I d/l to desktop where I ran the file after download and it installed it for me.

Why are my DVD drives not listed as 'D' & 'E'
Maybe I'm a little out of the loop...but I thought systems always listed DVD drives as 'D' & 'E' after the C: drive ? Attached jpg shows a split in drive letter assignments. I have Partition Magic but this only shows up the HDDs/SSD so I can't reset the letters there. Is there a way in Win 7...

How to get the JEDEC value that is listed under SPD?
Here is a question that has been bothering me since yesterday. On SPD, I see a few JEDEC possibilities for my ram. I know how to set the XMP, by using profile1, but I actually went back to a manual timing and set it @ 9-9-9-24 @ 1600mhz. What I want to know is how I can get JEDEC#7 timings on the...

every track is listed twice?
All my tracks seem to show up twice, also very short clips (like ringtones) seem to have been found and entered too. Two questions - is there a menu that has a 'delete identical tracks' or doublers and is there a way to tell it not to list any tracks less than say 2 minutes? Thanks

When looking in Computer/c:, some user folders are not listed in the c: directory. Folder/files are there but can not be found when browsing, for example, to attach to an email. System directories (e.g., Program Files) are listed. Is there a reason some folders are not listed? Is there a...
