win 7

Just installed SP1 on a Dell yesterday, and have no sound at all this morning after re-boot(s). Lovely MS, just lovely... Looks like I'm going to roll-back world...

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Hello. I'm having sound issues also after installing SP1 to Windows 7 Home Premium . The problem I'm having is I'm not getting any sound via HDMI when I play a blu-ray disc. All other sound seems to be OK. When I play a regular DVD, the sound seems fine. The audio on these same blu-ray discs played just fine prior to the SP1 update. I read in the SP1 documentation that there were some HDMI audio enhancements. What were they. I don't call this issue an enhancement. When is this going to be fixed? In the mean time, I'm probably going to rollback from SP1 until this issue is fixed.

Sound issues

Sp1 installed on 2 machines yesterday. No obvious problem until it comes to sound & video. Basically no sound in WMP FLV and RealPlayer. Video or Audio tracks. Seems that all have switched to double (or maximum speed) and full volume. Of course at multiple speeds there is no sound!

Did a restore back a day and now SP1 uninstalled and audio and video are fine.

Windows 7 Professional 64

Hi. I hate to mention the obvious, but I had the same issue (i.e., no sound) after the SP1 update. For whatever reason, SP1 changed the sound output to a non-existent device. Resetting the audio playback fixed the problem.

Dell sound problem

I had the same problem, lost sound after sp1 update on my Dell. I was able to correct the problem by going to the search field and typing in troubleshooting. Select Troubleshoot Audio Playback. The system came back stating that the default sound device was correct and made the change. All works well now.
You may need to reinstall your audio driver if this doesn't work. If you do reinstall your audio driver, rerun the troubleshooting again.
Hope this helps.

I've had the same issues with no sound after installing sp1. I uninstalled and had to roll back drivers to get everything back to normal. Reinstalled sp1 and I now have sound but now it has an occasional buzzing sound, almost like a short. I've tried everything I can think of, please help.

I'm getting the same issue..

Did you ever manage to find a fix?

I tried messing with the eq.. uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers..

I even installed an audio 4, then uninstalled the onboard audio drivers, and disabled the onboard audio via the bios to see if that would do the trick.

It didn't.

Well it did a lil.. the eq on the onboard audio just wasn't working right with wmp.. I was getting a lot of distortion.. But with the audigy 4, there's just bass and treble, which is pretty easy to adjust.

Oh and the biggest win..

After installing Sp1.. my cpu started spiking at 100%.. and my onboard video magically became enabled even tho my gpu was still listed in the device manager.

After putting in a different geforce, the cpu meter went back down and the onboard video became disabled once again. But I lost a gpu within hours of installing Sp1.
