    SP1 fails to download

    Win 7 64bit ultimate
Initally received windows update error 800B0100. Downloaded and ran Systems Readiness tool. It wanted to install hotfix KB 947821.I installed hotfix. I ran SFC/SCANNOW to repair any corrupt files.Nothing corrupt showing. I ran the update repair tool in win7. SP1 will not download, reports same error message I started with and I have done all the repairs that the error calls for. Any ideas would be appreciated.

PS; I downloaded a MS Essential update during all of this so Update appears to only have an issue with SP1

    Hi, jdcarroll.

Try temporarily disabling your firewall, MSE and any other security software installed on your computer while downloading and installing the Service Pack and see if that resolves the issue with error 800B0100.

    Hi, jdcarroll.

Did you run the Microsoft Fix it in both default and aggressive mode?

    Dear corrine,
Sorry to interrupt the flow of dialogue between you two!

    To the@OP,
Run your anti malware and anti spyware one after the other. Link to download MBAM : Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware.com - SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner. If you find any malware and/or spyware remove them( i know the error codes are different if you are infected, yet rule them out)

More importantly, did you try to download from the MS Download center or was it thru' Windows update? Download the other windows update you have received AND ONLY AFTER THAT TRY TO DOWNLOAD THE SP1. It would be ideal if you can run "Housecall", an online AV scanner from trend micro. Link : HouseCall - Free Online Virus Scan - Trend Micro USA

    best wishes,

I have just run the default and aggresive mode. SP1 started to download and failed at 15%. I tried a definition update for MSE and it downloaded and installed with no problem. The SP1 download is still showing the same error code 800B0100. I have tried the SP1 again and it fails with download at all.

    Dear jdcaroll,
Sorry for the mixup! Usually when i write @OP (highlighted and OP meaning Original Poster), it's addressed to you! Anyway, i could not remember your name in the nick of the moment! I am posting a link which has sub-links for trouble-shooting your problem! Link : Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 from the Microsoft Download Center

It's excellent that you ran SAS and i request you to run HOUSECALL,the link for which i provided in the previous post!

Microsoft QUOTE" If you receive the Windows Update error 800b0100, it means that a file needed by Windows Update is not registered with Windows correctly." UNQUOTE

So, i want you to kindly go to Start---->All programs---> Windows update and in the big window that opens, look for any other important update and if present, download it!

I have both a Toshiba Laptop and a desktop, so it's a lateral movement dance for me! I could install sp1 in both of them,BUT the lappy's wifi went for a toss! I did all i could, except a prayer! It "may" sound illogical to youngsters, but after i sent upstairs a prayer for help and rebooted the lappy, voila, the wifi started working as if nothing has happened to it!
    Best wishes and regards,
    Sreedhav
PS: are you rebooting the pc after every step?

System died. Keyboard failure, would not reboot win 7. I unplugged the 2.4 wirless keyboard and mouse, plugged in old usb version. I had this system set up with Win7 raid0. I tried disk 2 and I am back up. still not sure if it is a software or hardware issue. Will get back to you unless I loose it all.

Disk management shows failed redundacy? Can I reactivate or is this disk bad. If bad, how do I determine which drive to unplug or is it a trial and error thing
    Thanks
