Hi Alpha,

The repair disc you run off from within windows is really a startup repair disc.

The repair install is the same as an upgrade install - you need full installation media for that.

Hi SIW2,

Does that mean that the old repair disk is still OK or is a new one needed?

Yes I know, I should have elaborated on what I said. I was just thinking if you have the repair disk, but not the correct version of full DVD, using the repair disk might save you from having to do the repair install in the first place. I guess it just depends on how bad your system is messed up. If you are between a rock and a hard place it couldn't hurt to try it could it. Like I said I haven't had to use mine as of yet and hope I never do. I burned them so if need be i can use them to fix somebody else's messed up system.
