    Just a thought, can I not create a back up, install my version/disc of windows 7 and then restore my back up on the new version?

    I just bit the bullet and clicked on the "change product code" link next to the ID and entered my discs code, and has accepted it as a genuine windows 7 copy.
    I shall just wait now to see if any reminders pop up!
