Just upgraded to b.7260 to have it genuine, but no MUI

    Hello,

I decided to upgrade from 7100 to 7260 and not 7264 to be able to have it genuine without any hack.

I thought I would have been able to download french MUI, but it's not available on Windows update.

So, I searched a little bit and found that on piratebay there was a version with language pack pre-installed (from build 7229). I assumed if the person who created this file was able to use 7229 MUI for build 7260, I would be able too.

I looked at the files inside lp.cab for french language of build 7264. I think it's only the file names which prevent to use that pack in build 7260. So, I programmed a VB code to rename all extracted files. It worked.

Now I'm stuck at recreating the cab file. I tried a few programs, but they have problems with folders or file names too long.

Does anybody here know how I could force Win7 to accept MUI from another build?

    Thank you!

I downloaded the multi-languages Windows 7260 on TPB and found that the language files were on the DVD. The language is already integrated and it doesn't seem to be the same files as in a lp.cab.

I was able to create a cab file with picozip, but Windows says the file is corrupted, so my idea doesn't work.

I think I will have to upgrade to 7264 to have it in French, or reinstall from scratch with the multi-language DVD.

its not that easy... its much less fooling around if you reinstall with that intergrated "multilanguage" iso (if its clean) or install 7264 and use activation hack (or not even that is neccessery since there will be RTM in a month anyway), then integrate language pack from different version your self. Those fr-fr directorys you found on that DVD are not language pack for windows, its just language pack for instalation. Language pack is intergrated inside install.wim file. And you dont even need that, you could just use LP from 7264 and with "manual" instalation use it on 7260. But like i said, less headache with other two solutions.
