    What the hell!

Error code 0 is definitely a success message, and always has been.

Right, firstly, can you please press the Windows Key + R, and type winver

    Does SP1 show as installed.

I need to go now Really sorry.

Tomorrow I shall check out that SFC corruption if it still exists, check some new log files, and sort out any loose ends, including SP1.

    Thanks again!

    Richard

P.S. I have just run your Minidumps. I shall give you a full analysis tmz, as I really need to go, but eventually, it will come to posting this link: STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

I thought that you would rather have something than nothing for tonight...

I rebooted and did it a second time from the update manager and it worked. (even did the configuring updates screen, unlike on the first time.)

Still having the DX kernel crash though.
Pic- yep it worked this time..

I played Crysis 2 on very high settings for 3 or 4 hours non-stop on Saturday. I'm sure its not overheating, also It's running FurMark Just fine, OpenGL looks to be working fine.

    Hello again!

Really sorry for my rush last night. Right, I have asked one of the hardware/BSoD experts to come in and take a look. They should be along shortly.

If you have received any more BSoDs, can you please re-run this tool: https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

The reason is that these minidump files are only clues, and are not conclusive, even when run using Windbg, and so the more we have, the more likely we are to pick up something extra (although less likely with this particular STOP code)

Also, can you please re-run sfc /scannow and upload a whole new C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder. I want this to check out SFC, and also SP1.

    Thanks a lot!

    Richard

EDIT: What anti-virus are you running?

After I tried the performance rating again i still got a crash, but no minidump. I think it's making a full memory dump file and only saving that. (MEMORY.DMP) I have had more since, but I dont think there are any more minidumps.

Also, it's more of a black screen of death, given that the graphics driver freezes.

I am using Eset NOD32 x64 for antivirus.

    Thanks!

    Hello again!

Yes, it is. Anyway, I shall leave that to the BSoD expert.

Your anti-virus wasn't showing up in WMI. Not to worry. Some anti-virus do that.

Right, let's quickly fix those two corrupt files from SFC.

Can you please download and install this file from Microsoft: Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

Restart your computer and re-run SFC (yes, again, sorry )

If it still comes back as dirty, follow the below instructions, and only if it still comes back as dirty. Please read through these instructions once first, before getting started.

    Please takeownership of C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft.vc90.mfc_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.1_none_dcc7eae99ad0d9cf

and inside that folder, mfc90u.dll and mfcm90.dll using these instructions: Take Ownership of file - Vista Forums

After that, download Packs.zip, and overwrite mfc90u.dll and mfcm90.dll using the ones provided by me.

After that, restore the Trusted Installer or System using these instructions for those two files and that folder: TrustedInstaller - Restore as Owner - Vista Forums

Then re-run SFC and allow it to rebuild the symbolic links how it likes them ("Errors found and corrected")

However, there is an alternative method. If you want to, we could either download, or use your own Windows 7 installation DVD, and avoid all of these permissions.

Your choice. The very best of luck!

    Richard

P.S. Be very careful with the folder name!

Both of your dumps are nearly identical, Bugcheck 116, VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE - Usual causes: Video driver, overheating, bad video card, ?BIOS. Both blame nvlddmkm.sys, your video driver. However, other things can cause conflicts with the video driver. Read this article for more information on this error: Video's crashing the display driver (ATI HD5870)

    1. You have two drivers that are suspect. Both of these drivers are out of date and have created problems before. Update these two drivers through the links provided or uninstall the software they are associated with.
    SiRemFil.sys Wed Oct 18 18:20:39 2006 - Silicon Image driver. Silicon Image - Support

SiWinAcc.sys Mon Nov 01 15:23:29 2004 - Silicon Image driver - comes with package for the SIxxxx drivers. Silicon Image - Support
    2. Uninstall Alcohol. It uses a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done:DuplexSecure - Downloads

Here is a free alternative CD virtualization program that does not use the sptd.sys driver.
    Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) Overview

In addition, your dumps show that you do not have SP1 installed. I strongly urge you to install SP1.

Follow these suggestions, reboot and let's see if your system is more stable. Please post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD after following the above suggestions, please upload it and we will go from there.

    2. Uninstall Alcohol. It uses a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done:DuplexSecure - Downloads
My god, I completely forgot about alcohol. I've had problems with that software before!

I'm going to try all of these solutions when I get back to my room. Thanks guys!

Okay, I have uninstalled Alcohol and restored spdt. I also reinstalled both vcredist x86 and x64, which didnt fix the problem. I also installed you the Packs.zip you gave me, retook ownership as TrustedInstaller, etc. Still a dirty SFC log.

Here are the logs again, since CarlTR6 is saying it could be my RevoDrive and my drivers for it are in fact current, I'm going to disconnect all drives and try installing to an extra SATA SSD and see what happens. Lets hope it works!

Would changing the BIOS setting from IDE to AHCI do anything? That shouldnt affect the Revo because its attached as a separate raid controller.. right?

EDIT: Okay, so I reinstalled Windows 7 on a SATA drive. Still having the same problem. It's not the Revo.

    Okay guys, riddle me this:

    • I run Crysis 2. I can run it just fine no crashes, with a lower resolution and a lower graphics.
    • If I run Crysis 2 with everything set on highest it WILL crash.
    • BUT If I start the game on low settings, the play for a minute or two, and bump the settings up to full/max resolution, the game runs FINE.
    • After I boost the settings up to highest, I can play as long as I want without a hitch. BUT, if I minimize the game window and re-open it, the system will Black screen. It won't crash, however, when the settings are low/medium.

    Heres the craziest thing:
I can minimize Crysis and run the Windows 7 computer rating assessment and it goes through the tests just fine.

Then, when I close the game and try and rerun the assessment, it crashes the same way it did before. WTF!

This has to be, without a doubt, a software glitch.

I opened a new Thread here.
