    IE9-Update reports failed-but its there?

April 23 - there was a series of Windows Updates, among them was an update to Explorer 9. After the installs, the report showed Explorer 9 failed. I opened Explorer and it was updated. I checked its version and it was, indeed, version 9. So what is causing this report to show 'failed'? Should I be concerned?
    What would 'you' do?

Hello JerseyGirl and welcome to Seven Forums.

If your machine is working as expected, I wouldn't be too concerned about the failed update report. Sometimes "stuff" happens for no apparent reason. Could have been a glitch in the initial update attempt that got fixed later on.

Windows downloads updates behind the scenes when you are online—the updates do not interfere with other downloads and you aren't interrupted while you're working.

I'd still run a full scan with your antivirus and antispyware to rule out any malware. I'd also suggest using the free Malwarebytes. Update the data and run the full scan. You can download it from the CNET website:

Thanks for the welcome, Marsmimar. I do indeed have and use Malwarebytes. AND - I run MS Essentials once a week or more if I get that 'feeling' it needs it.
All is working quite well as far as my PC and IE are concerned. It was just a strange thing to see the 'failed' statement when all seemed to work. I know all is never perfect (as we would like it to be) but asking a forum such as this is always a good idea. Thanks for being there (here) when someone like me needs ya.
