    Windows Update error code 8024402F

Hi there... I have not been able to do a Windows Update on my PC since the past two or three weeks I think... I get an error that says "Windows Update error code 8024402F".

I have tried a lot of things... checked all the posts possible.. here is the list

    1. Followed the windows troubleshooter... no success
    2. Changed the date settings to system time.. no success
    3. Ran a sfc /scannow... not detected anything... no success
    4. Reformatted my PC and tried again... no success
    5. Disabled all the antivirus programs and ran malwarebytes to check for any malicious software... no success

Does anyone have a resolution for this... I would really appreciate it... because its become really frustrating right now...

Many thanks... Watiing for a quick response.

    MS reference to error.
    Windows Update error 80244016, 8024402f, or c80003fa

Type in "troubleshooter" in the Start Search bar. Click on "Find and Fix problems."
    Tutorial here.
    Troubleshooting

Under System and Security click "Fix problems with Win Update". Follow prompts.
This may fix it and is worth a try.
Same thing MS page states to do but easier to follow with pictures.

Troubleshooter was worth a shot if you had not tried it.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    Exactly what did you do?

I reformatted the PC and loaded Windows 7 again. Got it activated. Made sure that there were no antivrus programs blocking... Basically disable those.... went through your troubleshooter... fixed the windows update components... and it still gives the error...

Open Control Panel then Administrative Tools, then open Services.

Scroll down to Windows listings as in Snips below.

Highlight Windows Update it should be set to Auto. If "Off" or disabled click Restart where I have it circled in yellow towards top left..

Then highlight Windows Module. Same thing click "Start" if off or disabled.

If either of these are disabled the updater will not work.

Is everything for Windows Update enabled? I assume it is after going through the trouble shooters.

Try going to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. For safety, put everything in there in a "new folder" or "zip file". Then delete everything that is in the download folder except for the "new folder" or "zip file".

    Then try update again.
