Windows 7: Constant Download

Windows 7 Ultimate x86; Windows XP Pro SP3 x86; Windows Vista Ultimate x86

Wow, this is PowerPoint 'thing' is frustrating. Outside of uninstalling and reinstalling PP, I'm not sure how we can get this fixed. AFAIK, there is no PPCORE.DLL located anywhere else besides in Program Files, so the .dll must be located and registered from that location.

As to Java, if it will not update, then strongly recommend that you uninstall it from Programs and Features in Control Panel as all of the recent updates for it are Critical Security updates for remotely exploitable vulnerabilities.

If you need it installed, then be sure to install the most recent release for Windows x64. Here's a link from which you can download and save it -
Java SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 26

When the download completes close all open programs and browsers.
Right click jre-6u26-windows-x64.exe and choose 'Run as administrator', agree to the UAC prompt.

Windows 7 64 bit

I don't need a new Java, so if you don't think it has any shared files, I'm not going to mess with it.

I have gone to Microsoft updates and turn off the notice to download the update. When I shut it down, it turns itself back on.

This machine is a Vista based machine with the free W 7 upgrade from HP. As I have said, I have reloaded W 7 once, and that created more issues. Over time, I have fixed the majority of them. So the final question is: Is this really a Vista based problem that has popped up into W 7?

You have give real detailed instructions and I believed I did my best. It is annoying. What is next? Know anyone at HP? Maybe I should get a replacement that is based solely on W 7 without any Vista parts.

Sorry, no, I don't know anyone at HP.
As to the replacement, are you referring to the entire system or just a Win 7 DVD ?
There is absolutely no reason you should have to be going through all this just to get your computer functioning and stable. None.

Windows 7 64 bit

I am thinking a replacement computer, one that is equal to this one, only build soley on a W 7 platform, instead of an upgrade from Vista platform.

Now, as I said, this whole issue is annoying. I told you I was having issues with Windows Live Photo Gallery. I re-downloaded it once and that fixed the problem. Now the problem has returned. What happens:
When I am editing a photo, IE, an old black and white, I click on the Black & White effects, which removes some stains and blemishes. I click the next pic icon on the bottom and the next pic shows up. And so on and so on. Problem is, when I close the pictures, where all the pics in that file should be seen, the pics I just edited are GONE. I go to Computer Search, enter .jpg and all pictures on the computer show up. I find the missing pictures. I right click Properties. The "Hidden" box is marked. I unclick it and it returns back to the original file. I have nearly 14,000 pictures in this compouter. That is a lot to sort through from Search to restore them to the original file.

Any thoughts?

Windows 7 64 bit

OK. I am still having this download problem. I talked to the computer tech at Staples and he said although this did not start right away, the computer did not install the fan correctly. He said to scan the PC for New Hardware, and it would not find anyrhing. Then, unplug the fan, do the scan again. Then, plug the fan in, run the scan for new hardware, and it would find the fan, with an error code. I was then to "clear" the error code, and all would be good in the world.
PROBLEM: I cannot find anything that would allow me to scan for new hardware. In devices, all I have is properties for devices and hardware. Nothing to find new hardware.
I have doubts about this proceedure, but I have experienced PC voo-doo magic before.
