I did what you said, but Windows\Temp\CheckSUR\servicing packages doesn't work, I have to use Windows\Temp\CheckSUR\servicing\packages (this folder already existed). When I did that I got a bluescreen error and the blue screen error happens every time I restart at the end of loading windows.

The files we were attempting to replace ( .mum and .cat files) are to be placed in Windows\Temp\CheckSUR\servicing packages or, Windows\\Temp\CheckSUR \servicing\packages\ according to the instructions on this TechNet guidelines page- Advanced guidelines for diagnosing and fixing servicing corruption
The steps are outlined under Using the checkSUR report - Steps to resolve this issue.
The placement of the files should not cause any BSODs.

In an earlier you post you stated
Quote:
The issues with BSOD and CI.dll are solved.
Please let us know how this was resolved.

Can you start the system to Safe Mode ? Please see that page for how to access the Advanced Boot Options and to see the window that includes Repair Your Computer.

Do you have the Windows 7 installation DVD or is this an OEM system with a hidden recovery partition that only recovers the system to the state it was when first booted up ?

I can start the system in safe mode, but not sure how to repair the problem without reconfigure system to an earlier point in time. I do not have an installation DVD. I just have recovery discks from Acer.

When it comes to the BSOD problem, I talked to the support and they sent me a link to program that fixed the problem with the ci.dll file which they meant caused the BSOD. Everything worked fine afterwards except the trouble with the updates. I also posted in the BSOD forum but got no response. The files I should attach were in Norwegian and not English, and that may be the cause.

Which language is installed on your system ... Is it English or Norwegian ?

I've consulted with a couple of Windows experts and the replacement of files will not cause BSODs unless the files
were video files. These files are no such animal.

Is System Restore available so that you can roll the system back to a point in time when the BSODs did not occur ?
Is Startup Repair available ?

The language is Norwegian. I have posted updated info in the thread concerning the BSOD thread, but get no more answers.
