Windows 7: W7 Updates

20 Jun 2011   #11

Windows 10 Home, 64 bit

Can you tell us specifically what PM settings were changed?
Screen saver. I went back in to the setting for changing when the display gets turned off. I reset it to "never." I believe an update changed it to a time setting, which I've forgotten.

This happened once before, I think at the end of 2010 or early in 2011. An update caused shutdown to take upwards of 4 minutes, when it's usually a few seconds. I've searched for forum to identify what specifically I and other forum members did, but for the life of me I can't find it, and I can't remember. I think it was kind of cache setting? I'm sorry I can't remember or find the thread.

I received a notification that Microsoft had a problem with the KB2538242 update
and it won't be corrected till July. In addition, I was advised to hide the update
until that time. I did it and haven't had any updates for the last 4 days

MSE updates flagged in Win 7 updates but not XP Mode updates
I find it odd that when I do a Windows Update in Windows 7, the Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) updates are also found. But if I do a Windows Update in XP Mode, the MSE updates are not found. I don't suppose this is controllable? I'd like the Windows Update to find MSE updates.
