Windows 7 Service Pack 1 query

    Hi.

I hope someone can help me with this please?

I have a HP 110-3138 netbook with Windows 7 Starter.

I need to install SP1 but I have not had the capacity to download the required file as it is quite large and normally I use a wireless Net with only 4 GB capacity a month.

At present I am staying with a friend for another 10 days who has a wired broadband link of 20 GB capacity and he is quite happy for me to use his "link" while I am here.

As well I need to take the necessary steps that are required before I can install the SP1.

So my question is " How can I download the SP1 without installing it at the same time please?"
Once I get the answer I can download the SP1 and save the file to use at a later date when I return home and carry out the "backups" etc , before installing it.

Any help would be most welcome.

    Thank you

    Alistair

Download the standalone installer from the MS download center.

Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932)

or a direct download link for 32 bit windows.

    http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...976932-X86.exe

You'll need to validate for the first link so click on the green Continue button first. Download the link appropriate for you. Since you have Starter, download the x86 link at the bottom of size 537 mb. Save to disk, then burn to CD to have permanently. When you want to install, just double click.

If you have trouble installing, post here and somebody will help you.
