    IE11 update error 9C48 Win 7 Starter

Hello, I have just reinstalled Windows 7 Starter on my Asus Netbook. I have spent yesterday installing updates and there is one update that is giving trouble.

It is the update for IE11 for Win 7. It fails with the error code: 9C48

The only third party programs I've installed is Chrome

The CBS.zip file is over 9MB so the forum will not allow me to post it. The result from sfc /scannow was:

    Code:
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
I could upload the zip to dropbox or Google Drive if that would help. Thanks in advance.

Edit: I've uploaded the CBS zip to google drive. Link here:

Hi and Welcome to Seven Forums,

Take a look at this tread on the same issue - Windows Update Failure Error Code 9C48 Unable to Fix. - Microsoft Community

    Does this help?

Hi Jamie, thanks for the reply. I have tried the method given as the answer in that thread. If I try to run the offline installer for IE11 it gives the message:

    Code:
IE did not finish installing. Setup can't continue because a more recent version of IE is installed on your computer

Have you uninstalled Internet Explorer first?

Pardon my ignorance but how do I uninstall Internet Explorer? It does not appear in the Programs and Features under Control Panel. There is also no entry for any IE version in the View Installed Updates under Programs and Features.

    It's not an issue.
While in Programs and Features click on View Installed Updates

    Attachment 327526

Do a search for Internet Explorer and uninstall it from there.

    Attachment 327528

Then re-install it using the offline installer and do windows updates again.

That is what is strange. There is no entry for any version of Internet Explorer in View Installed Updates. It just says "No items match your search.".

This seems to have worked Jamie. IE uninstalled and I then reinstalled it from an offline version. I went to Windows Update and the troublesome update was installed in a matter of seconds! Thanks very much for your help. It is much appreciated.
