KB978917 not installed

Hi, guys.

I'm having annoying problem with installing hotfix KB978917. My computer gives me an error while trying to print PostScript. This problem accured after some Windows update and I can't find with which one.

Hotfix is found, downloaded, executed and gives an error "The update is not applicable to your computer".

Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

I have the PCL5 driver, but I'm completely not happy with the printing quality with PCL5.

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. Printer is Canon iRC2105.

Thanks!

is this the pcl you are using?
Download Canon Color imageRUNNER iRC2105 PCL5 Printer Driver - 8.85 - DownloadNew.org
There seems to have recently been a update to that.

It's possible you are using a xp or vista version of the pcl and it's just not seeing it.

Thanks for reply.
Yes, I'm using the latest PSLC5 driver v.8.85.
My problem is why I can't install the hotfix KB978917?

Okay don't take offense I'm just looking for an explanation as to why this is happening.
Could I trouble you to follow these directions?
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

No problem!

I did verification [sfc /verifyonly]. It says "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

What would you advice to do next?

I think what I really need to see is the system error log, could you go ahead and follow the steps here.

I understand you haven't had a bsod, it's just the easiest way for me to see the system state.

You should remove atitool it's not supported anymore.

Also as you probably already know the nforce4 chipset you are using isn't properly compatible with win 7.

By the way when were you infected with a virus?
It doesn't seem it was quite cleaned up completely
Try running MBAM in safemode with networking

AtiTool removed. I didn't know about nForce4 chipset compatability...
I'll try to run MBAM in safe mode.

I was thinking if SP1 could cause me some problems?
