You said they do not download OR fail but then you said they failed, which is it?

Make sure you have restarted your computer since then. Try updating ONLY important updates, possibly selecting a few at a time to download and update. Let me know if it still fails. Restart>select some updates (important ones first, then slowly working your way to other updates you want to have installed)>installl>restart again. If it works keep doing this method

These two things likely don't have an effect on the updates, but try them anyway:

    1. Do you know if you have all your drivers currently updated?

    2. Has windows been activated yet?

    Jemsr,

    Welcome to SevenForums.

Let us go at those updates only one at a time.

Pick the one that is oldest.

    Download and install that update.

Let us know that results. This is so that we have an idea of how to proceed.

When you run that update, do NOT panic if the computer appears to be hung.

Anytime you think your computer is hung during the download or install of an update, do the following:
CTRL + SHIFT + ESC key combo | Applications tab
As long as you see a line indicating that Windows Update is Running

All is OK. The update is still running.

To that key combo, hold down ctrl and shift-while holding them down then tap the Esc key.

You can help us by carrying out the following:
    UPDATE YOUR SEVENFORUMS SYSTEM SPECS

User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |
in left-hand column, under Your Profile, Edit System Spec |

Use Speccy - System Information - Free Download
and/or SIW to gather info for filling in the blanks.
You can also use the System Spec tool from this fine tutorial:
Use System Info to see your System Specs

Do me a favor. Please add the word laptop or desktop to the “system manufacturer” block.

Provide full windows version info, such as provided by Speccy:
    MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader, Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.
