    James,
    Welcome to SevenForums.

What version of Win 7 is currently installed on your system?

    WINVER.EXE will tell you.

What did you buy for ~$300?

Where did you buy the illegal version?

    Did you buy a dvd?

compare that dvd physically to a win 7 dvd at a known reputable dealer.

Where was the Product code that you had to enter?

What I'm saying is you most probably have an illegal version.

Go back to where you bought the CD.DVD and best in the accompanyment of a representative of the police and ask them to refund/replace or demonstrate to you that the software is installable.

    I have

    Windows 7 Home Edition

    32 bit.

it cost me around $250-$300 canadian.

    I bought it from "Futureshop"

I've had this a bit now, I've used it before, but I've never got this error...

it was a DVD yes, with both 32 and 64 bit dvd in the case.

as far as product code, are you asking for the serial? if so, I don't feel comfortable entering it here, unless its in private.

Thanks again... yeah I really don't understand.. I'll admit, I've had illegal copies before of win7 and I've never seen this, now I've had this legal copy for 3-4 months, and my 2nd format, and this is the very first time I've had this error pop up.. and it happens once per hour..

The learn more online "details" has a download on microsoft.com I can download to analyz it all, and fixes it.. but I'm still getting this..

This error is usually caused by a file mismatch that makes the licensing system think ceratin system files have been tampered with. Your mgadiag though does not report anything under "File scan". Theres no definitive solution, let me suggest a few things you should try:

    1) Avast antivirus is often a culprit in these cases. If you have avast (or maybe mcaffee also), try changing to a different AV.

    2) Try re-entering the product key.

    Product Key Number - Change

    3) Run a sfc scan, that'll fix any corrupted system files.

SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot

    4) Also download Malwarebytes free and run a full scan.

After doing all this, reboot and check.

Thanks, I'll try those... Ya I "did" download an anti-virus program via torrent, and this is when all this started to happen.. could it easily be a virus due to the anti-virus I downloaded?
