This message comes up because Windows Updates are installing. These are more or less security patches and fixes along with an assortment of other such software upgrades that help to keep your PC running smoothly. If you want to turn automatic updates off, have a read of the following tutorial.
    Windows Update Settings - Change

You can fully turn Windows Update off or you can choose which updates you wish to install.

Please follow this tutorial to identify the one update which is either repeatedly failing or succeeding: Windows Update - Fix a Repeatedly Offered Update

However, please do not start another new thread, but just post here in this thread.

    Thanks a lot!

    Hello!

How-to reset the File System Resource Manager if you receive error 0x80071A91:

    1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.
    2. In the Command Prompt window you will need to type the following, and press ENTER:
    fsutil resource setautoreset true %systemdrive%\
    3. Restart your computer, and then attempt to install the failed update(s).

If you still experience this problem, please run the Fix-It at this link: Error message when you try to install a Windows update, a hotfix, or a service pack after you perform System Restore in Windows Vista: "0x80071A91"

Retest your updates again, and report back. The very best of luck!

    Hello again!

Sounds promising! Can you please go back into your Update History: Windows Update - View Update History Details

I don't care about all of the failures. What is most important: is there a success message for that particular update at the very top of your history?

    Thanks a lot!

In that case please run this Fix-It here: Error message when you try to install a Windows update, a hotfix, or a service pack after you perform System Restore in Windows Vista: "0x80071A91"

and then force Windows Update to Check for Update, and then install the update, so you can watch for a success or failure.

Thanks a lot for the screenshots. They make things so much simpler for me :)
