    Unable to Download/Install any windows updates.

    After battling massive BSOD all day yesterday, I did a complete factory reset, and many other things which have stopped the BSOD. Unfortunately my CPU is still completely freezing up at random times.

    I figured updating all the windows updates would help solve this, but i'm unable to. I keep getting error code 800B0100 when I try to DL them. It was suggested I get the x64 Windows Readiness Tool download. I downloaded that and even that has failed to install. I'm not sure what the issue is. Any help would be appreciated.

    Running windows 7 Home Premium x64 based PC.

    Hello!

    What error message did you receive when you attempted to install the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT). Can you please try it again and note down the error message and code if you can't remember.

    After that, let's jump in with the big guns logs!

    Please copy the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder to your Desktop, copy the C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log file into your new CBS folder on your Desktop, right click on it > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder, and upload the new file which is created on your Desktop here.

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Richard. I actually did another factory reset, this time installing the Readiness Tool first before anything else. After that I was able to install all the other updates fine. However i'm once again getting BSODs, the first one since the factory reset. Was a System Service Exception one. I'm really getting frustrated here as to what could be causing these issues. Memtest86 came back with no errors, i've cleaned the inside of the cpu, it's not over heating at all. I'm at a loss.

    If you are getting BSoD's it would be wise to start a new thread in the Crashes & Debugging section.....

    We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

    {You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.}

    The procedure:

    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the copy.
    * Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
