Is Politics Really Why the Chinese (Taiwan) MUI Is Unavailable?
I have noticed that the only traditional Chinese MUI available from Windows Updates is the Hong Kong MUI, which is based on the Taiwan MUI but with alterations (source: Language Packs in Windows 7).
As a result, I had to scour the Web for a third-party repository just to install the Taiwan Chinese MUI.
I have heard that the Taiwan MUI is now only available in Taiwan and that it is not made publicly available for political reasons. Is Microsoft really so weak that it would bury a major language edition (Microsoft has supported Taiwan Chinese since Windows 3.1!) just to avoid offending a few oversensitive bureaucrats in Mainland China, where everyone including the government pirates their software anyway?
Or is there some other reason Microsoft has decided to bury the Chinese (Taiwan) MUI? I'd love to hear it.
