Update uninstalled program and deleted file

The last update:
October 15, 2011
Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538242)

After this update, a program was uninstalled (gone with no trace). The program had a screensaver option and I noticed it when the screensaver came up blank. Its shortcut was no longer on the desktop.

Two files I had created October 12th, and was working on were deleted.
I don't know if any other files were deleted.

The update before was October 11, 2011

This appears to be a rollback not unlike a system restore. Any ideas?

Did you install the package yourself? That update came through MS Update back in June. A previous release was in April. Perhaps you deleted some files or did a restore. Another posibility is that you loaded/installed a program with old redistributable files.
