Does it mean that you have upgraded from vista ?
    2. Is yours a laptop or a desktop ?
    4. What is the volume of of your RAM ?
    5. Have you tried Startup Repair as described in this tutorial ? If no, run it at least 3 times with restarts after each single run.

Have you tried it as described in the tutorial Startup Repair (right click on the blue text and open the link in a new tab to see the tutorial), using the repair disk/installation disk; or from the boot options ?

If the startup repair mentioned by Arc doesn't solve the problem, you might want to consider reinstalling Windows 7, but carry out a clean install rather than an upgrade.

This tutorial shows you how: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

An upgrade can often cause you problems, which is why a clean install is preferable.

I doubt that system restore will help you . Coz system is in the C drive, but the boot files are in a 100 MB hidden drive called System Reserved. To repait that partition, you are to run Startup Repair and otherwise you can go for a clean install with upgraded version as Seavixen suggested.

EDIT : Startup repair takes a time ... you are to give it the time required.

So its normal for it to take a bunch of time? No sarcasm intended.
