Will do and thank you again for your assistance and guidance in this manner. It is MOST appreciated!
    ToddB:

    You are MOST MOST welcome!

Now at least it seems to be fixed, do keep us updated! You also have the iso/install dvd ala digitalriver! If you havent burned it yet to a dvd, make sure to do so and label it with "good" key... then put it away in a safe place!

As I said earlier, if it aint broke, dont fix it! LOL!

However, if there was ever a good time to do a clean install... a new PC with no/little user data is the easiest, and best time to do so. You now have a clean ISO and install disc via digital river, and you have a "valid" key; as far as we & M.S. know.

Also... keep in mind that upgrading, or maxing, RAM on a lappy is cheap these days and does wonders for performance on most stock lappys <-- before you upgrade to a newer model lappy, wring every ounce outta this one!

I'm also curious... did the ebay seller also load you up with any other software, such as office, av, etc? If so, did you get discs for them? Did you get any Dell driver discs also?

    Darryl-

Yes I have burnt ISO to DVD and have included the key as instructed in a safe place. I bought this machine as I am wanting to get into mobile apps development and web design and development and the laptop I had was lacking (and REALLY) outdated.

No my purchase from the ebay folks came in a cardboard box with the machine and power supply only. There were no driver disk and the machine came "loaded" with windows 7 professional and MS security essentials.

I am currently in the process of loading my "new" machine with apps and I came across a utility application on the net called "Windows 7 Manager". SO I downloaded a trial version of this application to see what it was about.

I don't know if anyone else has used this utility but in playing around with it I have found it displays quite a bit of info about your license as it has a tab for your license details and a tab for your license expiration date.

What I find confusing about my license is that after my product key (In system information) it has a "[Trial Version]" after it but when I click on my license expiration date it says "Windows(R) 7, Professional Edition: The machine is permanently actived."

Does someone know what "[Trial Version]" means?

Has anyone have any feedback with this utility/app?

Other than the above it has been working GREAT!

    ToddB -

Never heard of this one, and personally I dont use "Tune Up" utilities... most are right up there with registry cleaners as far as problem/fix ratio. Win7 does a great job of this with it's included utilities, you dont need these types of apps, and many are a source of malware, etc. If you must try apps like this check them out fully before installing... even though CNET gives this app good marks, I dont think its needed!

    ToddB,

I've used Windows Manager with XP and I occasionally load Windows 7 Manager up as a trial if I have a specific need.

I class myself as "knowing what I'm doing". Be aware that the registry cleaner in Win 7 Man is very aggressive.

But you won't be going near it, will you?

One very good reason for staying right away from it!

I would be VERY wary of this tool - it appears to me to be nothing more that a Registry Cleaner on steroids, with a couple of other tools thrown in to make it look repsectable.
What worries me is that they suggest in the FAQ using .NET cleanup tool, which at first galnce appears to be theirs - but is in fact an outdated version of Aaron Stebner's ( and MS's) tool written before Win7 was in Beta, let alone launched.

If this is an example of their customer care, I at least can do without it.

    All-

Thank you for the direction on this utility and I ASSURE you I will stay away from it (and my preoccupation with "cleaner" utilties in general!). Scouts Honour!

I REALLY ppreciate the input you all provide me as without it I would likely get myself into trouble. SO MANY THANKS for your time, expertise and direction!
