Recent Windows Update Trouble - Home Premium

    Hi!

I installed a windows update around the 20th, and it has been causing problems ever since. I've had to run every program as administrator ever since, and even that doesn't fix all of it.

It seems to be causing some sort of connectivity issues for the launcher of League of Legends and EVE. Skype won't start normally either, and I have to go through a compatibility fix before it runs. And I have to do it every time.

I also can't revert my Windows to the day before the update, because by default settings, I can only restore it to within something ridiculous like 2 days.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I tried to find anything resembling my problem from there and I tried the FixIt program, but no solution was found.

If you are certain that the update was downloaded on around a certain date, you could try uninstalling every update that has been installed since then.

If that cures the problem, install each update again, but on their own this time with a reboot between each one.

You might also want to run a full virus scan, for which the free edition of Malwarebytes is ideal.

I was wondering, is there a possibility of having a preset that you always run programs as admin?

There is, if the program has a shortcut. If you rightclick the shortcut, select Properties and then click the Advanced button, you'll see a setting "Run as Administrator" which you can enable permanently.

However it's more important to solve the underlying issue, and seavixen32's suggestions are definitely the way to go.

I found the where I can remove the updates, but its not listing all the updates. It is missing the specific ones that are between the time frame that my computer started acting up.

When I checked their properties, they say: Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.

The updates are "Definition Updates for Windows Defender" All with the same code.

The code is KB915597, and alot of people seem to be having trouble with it and with removing it.

And my comp has no viruses.

Heres a more detailed link to your earlier question, although I don't think it will help with this issue: Elevated Program Shortcut - Create for Standard User

And just curious, how do you know your computer has no viruses so i can feel better about the method you used (if you can just tell, then cool! do mine!:))

I did both the MalwareBytes scan and the scan in Avast.
