    Repeatedly failing Activation, despite legit copy of Windows 7

    Hello everyone;
    The problem I am experiencing, I can explain pretty well. I have a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium installed on this here computer. Now, It's an OEM. Here's the catch. This computer, right here, right now- is new. My OEM copy has been used twice, so according to the activation servers, I shouldn't be allowed to do that because OEMs are supposed to be machine specific. Now, to do some explaining.

    My old computer completely and utterly died last year, so I was unable to uninstall Windows 7 from the system, So I think it still believes it's registered to that computer, which is no longer the case. It is, in fact, registered to this new one. But since the key has been used before, BAM. We've got a problem haven't we? So, what I'm trying to say here is- will phoning the phone activation line actually help me at all or should I just bang my head against a wall and fork out another £70-80 for a new serial? (I can't really afford to do so because christmas is around the corner and I've literally just moved house.)

    Thanks for listening!

    I hope it works, If I remember correctly, I've got three days to activate.

    You do know the answer to your question.....

    Original Equipment Manufacturer.

    The licence for the copy of Windows is only valid on that computer and can't be transferred to other computers....

    The OEM software is licensed with the computer system on which it was originally installed and is tied to that original machine. OEM licenses are single-use licenses that cannot be installed on more than one computer system, even if the original machine is no longer in use. The End User Software License Terms, which the end user must accept before using the software, states that the license may not be shared, transferred to, or used concurrently on different computers. System builders must provide end-user support for the Windows license on computers they build, but cannot support licenses on computers they didn’t build. This is a fundamental reason why OEM System Builder licenses can't be transferred.

    Ahhhh. This is what I get for not reading the fine print, I guess. Well, you've gotta make mistakes in order to not make them again, I suppose. Now, If you don't mind, I've got to find a wall I can bang my head on.
