When you try to install updates from the Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site, you may receive a "0x80246007" error code
may apply - I think it still applies to Vista and Win7. |

Thanks for the reply. So what should I do to get IE 9? The link does not apply to Windows 7.

If none of the above works, try the System Update Readiness Tool, because this error often goes hand in hand with 0x800B0100 and is is that hidden error which needs to be fixed, not the one returned by Windows Update (this only applies after all the solutions for 0x80246007 itself have been exhausted) Richard |

Upgrade Internet Explorer 8 on clean Windows 7 install I just did a clean Windows 7 install. BTW there is an excellent guide here by gregrocker. How do I upgrade the default IE8 to IE11? Unable to install Internet Explorer 10 Good morning, Yesterday I reinstalled Windows 7 from the disk. This installed IE 8 and usually IE 9, IE10 and then IE 11 are available to upgrade to with Windows Update. This wasn't the case. IE 9 and IE 10 do not appear. Instead it provides IE 11 after a number of updates are... |

Five Reasons not to “Upgrade” to Windows’ Internet Explorer 9 Fair warning here, the author clearly has an Anti Microsoft agenda. This becomes obvious within the first 2 paragraphs, so the "information" may or may not be accurate. Still, it is in an interesting article.
