Did KB971033 come back to Windows Update after you hid it?

I hid Windows Update patch KB971033 ages ago, as it breaks the customization of my system. However, when I started my monthly system updating, it showed on the list of important(but optional) updates.

It wasn't checked, but seeing there again made me wonder, 'what if my system was set to automatically update?' . If would cause a time sink because I'd have to do the work to remove it.

Anyone else see it come back after they hid it? Is this something that happens regularly to updates?

Hi jagooch, As far as I am aware ,the only reason for hiding the KB971033 patch is if you are using illegal software,if that is the case we will no longer help you as this is against forum policy

This forum should start requiring full WGA reports before helping users with their windows activation and updates issues.

As far as I know, the only reason for 'hidden' updates reappearing without manual intervention is if the update is itself updated. This hasn't happened with the KB971033 update.

Having said that, as Pebbly said, the only 'good' reason for disallowing its install is if you have non-genuine Windows installed. The Update introduces a new layer of protection for your genuine software to ensure that Windows isn't tampered with by malware or bad programmers, and flag it if it is. As such it *should* be installed, along with the Important updates from WU.

Most people who are aware that their systems are counterfeit wouldn't come to a forum such as this anyhow - and the extra hassle of an MGADiag report would be OTT for most posts.
