    Impatient to wait for SP1

    I bought my Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit on May 25th, 2011.
After a while, I did not get SP1 offered through Windows Updates. So, I went to Download Center and installed SP1.
About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I had to restore to Factory Settings because when I created a new user account it failed to logon.
Computer is back to normal now.
And, I am waiting for SP1 to be offered to me.
    Getting impatient.
Should I sit tight and wait ?
Will there be any possible problem if I go to Download Center again for SP1 other than the fact that I will have to download a much larger size of SP1. ?
    Thank you.

As long as you have updates enabled it will show up. After a fresh install I go to the update centre & keep telling it to check for updates till I get them all.

You could always download sp1 & slipstream it. There is a tutorial on how to do it.

EDIT - Slipstream Windows 7 SP1 into a Installation DVD or ISO File

just download it direct from microsoft (second one form the bottom)

and save a copy of it somewhere safe in case you need it again!

download it overnight (or whatever) if your internet is slow, it's nearly a gig.

    903.2 MB ? Jesus !
I am saving the downoad for now. Can't decide if I want to install. I really would prefer the smaller size SP1 from Windows Updates.
    Thank you.

Not necessarily. SP1 was not offered to me through WU because I had a graphics driver that was incompatible (or something like that). This thread (and others search around) has links to reasons why SP1 may not be offered.

IME if everything is correct you should be offered SP1 in WU (as soon as I updated my driver it was there) so since you are not getting it there must be a reason.

Not sure if this applies to you but I was not offered SP1 UNTIL I updated my graphics driver. It was a known issue and some had a problem with. Check out method 4:

You do not have the option of downloading Windows 7 SP1 when you use Windows Update to check for updates

Thanks for the reference post Bru! I had the same problem and basically went through the same steps as that post, good find I will have to save it for future reference in case I have have to reinstall.

SP 1nstalled . Took about hour and a half. Successful.
Ran a sfc, no integrety violation.
Going to create a Win 7 SP1 repair disk.

    Thank you.

Why not just download a new .iso file of the Windows 7 install media with SP1 incorporated. The mydigitallife site that's linked to in quite a few threads is owned by Microsoft. All you need to do is download the .iso of the version your license key corresponds to.
