Is it necessary to download these updates?

Software on your computer is another factor. I've had to do some programming for school and have received tons of updates for stuff like SQL Server which would not be needed on most machines. Since they are security patches for the most part, they get labeled "Critical" or "Important" on my computer, but would be unnecessary on most others.

    to profdlp,
Since u took time to respond, I thought I should at least acknowledge your post as I'm always appreciative of any help. My main question here was why would the exact same update be categorized as Important on one machine and just Optional on another. Regardless of components, softwre, etc., the update should have been at least categorized the same on every computer (was my thought.) Also, the updates I listed are all under Optional on my system so do I really need them. These updates appeared on the 2 computers at time of purchase before anything new was installed on either system. No one here was really expressly familiar with any of the updates so actually that is a good sign. If there was anything 'bad' about them, I'm sure we'd have heard about them in some forum out on the web. As I mentioned earlier, I will most likely go ahead and download them, if just to get them out of my notify list without haviing to hide them.
Thanx for your response and I think this thread has run it's course. :)
