Error Code 0xC004F063 when trying to activate windows 7

I built my computer a few years ago and bought vista right before 7 was coming out so I got a free upgrade disc. I never bothered upgrading until I had to do a clean system install a couple months ago because my computer locked up.

A couple days after I installed vista and upgraded to 7, and before I activated my copy of windows 7, my PSU died. I finally got a new PSU and now when I try to activate my windows 7 I get this error.

Does the 30 days to activate actually mean anything? I ask because I didn't get to activate in the 30 day period since my PSU crapped out on me. Also, I had to use magic bean key finder to get the key because I cannot find my original upgrade case as it got lost in one of several moves apparently.

It says my copy is not genuine but it is. This is what makes me mad about microsoft. Things that should go smoothly never do.
What can I do to get this legit copy activated? I will be very displeased if I have to end up buying something even though this is legit.

    Thanks for your help.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
    - **in your own thread**, please
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine, but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

I built my rig so there is not sticker on the computer and as I stated in my first post I cannot find the original windows 7 upgrade case, just the disc it self.

I just know it is the windows 7 home premium 64-bit upgrade disc.

There's a number of problems with this installation.
    1) It's using an OEM_SLP Key from a HP machine.
    2) The motherboard is a Retail one
    3) The motherboard was manufactured before WIn7 was released
    4) The BIOS has no Windows Marker

This is NOT an installation from an Upgrade disk - it's an installation from an HP Recovery disk - which was probably enabled by a hacker's Loader tool, until you recently installed SP1, which roke the Loader and returned Windows to its proper state.

You will need to reinstall Vista, and then upgrade using a legitimate upgrade from a reputable store.

I got this upgrade disc directly from microsoft though. When I bought vista through newegg it came with a code for upgrade disc and that went through microsoft. Is microsoft not reputable?

Yes the motherboard is a Asus p6t deluxe v2 which was made before windows 7. Are you saying I need a new mother board? Also, what does it being retail mean? I bought it from newegg so yes it is retail....

So in between upgrading to 7 and installing SP1 a hacker got in my system? Sorry I am just a tad confused right now.

The disc says "For Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program"

edit- I don't even own an HP....

Windows OEM_SLP Keys do not come on anything except the manufacturer's Recovery disks - so I don't really see how you managed to install Win7 using this Key. It cannot activate on any machine except the manufacturer's approved ones.

(the only other place you would get them would be hacker sites)

If you got the Upgrade through MS, it whould have come with its own Key on a sticker, or by email - depending on how the offer supplied the disks.
If it came by email, then if you log into the MS Store with the same LiveID that you used at the time, the Key should be there.

You MUST use the Key that is appropriate to the disk you received. It will either be on a sticker in the box that the disk came in , or in your LiveID account.

If/When you find the Key/sticker, Open the System properties page, and at the bottom, you'll see the Product ID, and a Change Product Key link - use that and enter your Product Key, and follow the instructions.

Interesting. My mom has a HP laptop with windows 7 maybe I got my discs mixed up? It is weird that this windows 7 disc is an UPGRADE disc though as my moms comp came preloaded with windows 7.

Well I guess I have to search through all my moving boxes for the right disc/case. Ugh I thought this would be easy but nothing ever is.

Thanks for your help I will keep this thread updated with my progress or lack of.

The thing is I know I have a legit vista disc and a legit 7 upgrade disc.
