Hello Yamaha, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you have a store bought OEM computer, then the product key number should be on the COA sticker usuallu on the bottom of a laptop, under the battery of a laptop, or on the back of desktop.

If you purchased a retail copy of Windows 7, then the paperwork included will have the key on one of them.

If none of the above, then you may be out of luck.

    Hi yamaha605, welcome to 7F! :)

You could use Belarc or Speccy, I know Belarc lists it after it runs.

    Hello Steve,

Unfortunately, the OP reinstalled the OS without having the actual real key, so those programs will not be able to find it.

Did you use an Upgrade version from Premium?
    1. OEM disk product key will be on the sticker under the laptop.
    2. OEM Disk product key might also be on the back of the disk packaging.
    3. Retail disk will have a peace of paper with the product key.

If none of these work, Microsoft can help you, I'm guessing Windows isn't genuine at the moment.

Type ''slui.exe'' and use the automatic Phone System. Hold the line and explain what has happened. They should have records from when you upgraded Windows.

Come back if these don't work.

    Hello Brink,

Thank you, now I understand the difference.
