    .Net Framework requirements

    Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Had a stack load of live updates to do and as always it is such a slow task and can cause issues with my system.

I have noticed issues, like failing to download any updates happens when the system tries to download .net frame work updates.

In shear bloody mindedness and frustration last night, having tried to repair .net frame work 4, I had had enough and using the dotnex utility I removed all traces/versions of .net frame work.

But was that such a good idea after all?

My PC is not a gaming machine, just a standard home/office set up.

If by removing net frame work I may cause future issues, what versions of .net frame work should I install and where from?

I know I had .net frame work 4 installed, I don't know if I had any other versions at the same time.

Usually programs will ask you to download .Net framework if they require.
I would just say download only the ones that Windows Update make you.
if a program requires a certain version, it will download and install that version of.Net Framework(if it's a well written software anyways).

I only have what you see in the image attachment.

Restart your machine and see if windows continues to tell you to download Windows Updates and fails.

If still running into issues run this tool it will check and try to repair any windows update related issues

Fix the problem with Microsoft Windows Update that is not working

    Thanks chris,

I won't worry to much then, if an application requires it or an application stops working I'll take it from there.
