    Download error "HRESULT=0x80070002" When installing itunes and others


    Here is the error I get when trying to install itunes.

    An error occurred during installation of assembly
    'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.
    4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processo
    rArchitecture='x86'. Please refer to Help and
    Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070002

    Here is the error when trying to install "Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)"

    error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly
    'Microsoft.VC90.ATL,version="9.0.30729.1",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",
    processorArchitecture="86x",type="Win32"'.Please refer to help and support for
    more information. HRESULT=0x80070002.

    Please Help with this issue. I hate it.

    I believe this has something to do with the windows update I installed previously. I am not 100% sure I did install it before the errors started happening, but I am pretty sure. I have full administrative permissions. I was able to install a ".NET" frame work, however, it did not fix my problem.

    You may not have permission in the Registry to install iTunes. Check to see if the permissions in the Registry are OK. To do this, follow the steps as under.

    1. Open the Registry Editor (regedit).
    2. Locate, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes
    3. Right click on Classes and choose Permissions.
    d. Now click Add and type the username that you want to grant permissions to under “Enter the object names to select” and click “Check Names”. Click OK.
    e. Now select the username you typed from Group or user names and check “Full Control” under “Permission for”.
    f. Click Apply and OK. Try installing the software again.

    Note: This involves steps that the Registry. Kindly remember that serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow the steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry in case a problem occurs.
